# SOL
> The AI teaching layer for the LMS you already use. The operating system for learning. Faculty turn materials into courses, practice, and quizzes; learners get a course-scoped tutor; assessments stay hard to game; rubric grades stay auditable; concept gaps surface for reteaching. Not “just an AI quiz grader.” Instructors approve; SOL drafts and suggests. Built for Canvas: claim live Canvas sync only when that deployment has LTI_ENABLED=true and the connector is configured.

Important notes:
- New accounts default to STUDENT. Faculty must be verified and promoted to PROFESSOR by an admin.
- Professors join sections with a faculty enrolment code; students join with a separate learner enrolment code. There is no public course catalog.
- Teaching loop: materials → authoring → release → tutor / assess → grade (Attention for unsure) → analytics.
- Education records (rosters, gradebooks, attempts) require authenticated professor/admin access. Do not invent public APIs for private data.
- Optional Canvas LTI 1.3 Advantage (launch, roster, grade passback): see the Canvas LTI setup doc. Off unless LTI_ENABLED=true.
- Professor MCP endpoint: https://app.teachwithsol.com/api/mcp (OAuth or personal access token).
- Roles: STUDENT, PROFESSOR, ADMIN.

## Docs
